Cancer-related fatigue affects between 80-and 90% of individuals during cancer treatment. This fatigue is very different from the fatigue someone may have in daily life. It can be debilitating, and it can linger on for weeks, months, or years.
👩🏼⚕️ Exercise has been shown in research to help reduce cancer-related fatigue. There are guidelines used for a goal, which include:
150 minutes of moderate to intense cardiovascular exercise a week with strength training 2 days a week. 🏊🏼♀️
We start low and slow, gradually building up to avoid making fatigue worse.
If you’re struggling, start with a goal of just getting 5 minutes of movement in. Often you’ll find that it’s easier to keep going and that the most challenging part is getting up to start.
