Ginger Bug Soda Gut-Friendly & Homemade Fanta,Lemonade & Coca-Cola? OldFashioned Ginger Beer Recipe!
Ingredients (Starter Ginger Bug):
• 200ml water
• 30g sugar
• 30g grated ginger
Daily Feeding (for 3–5 days):
• 30g grated ginger
• 30g sugar
• 60ml water
Equipment:
• Pressure-safe bottles
• Jar & breathable cloth
Any fruits for your juices :)
How to Make Ginger Bug Soda:
1. How Do You Start the Ginger Bug?
Mix 200g of water, 30g sugar, and 30g grated ginger in a jar. Stir well and cover with a breathable cloth. Leave at room temperature.
2. How Do You Feed the Ginger Bug?
Add 30g grated ginger, 30g sugar, and 60ml water daily. Stir well for 3–5 days until it becomes fizzy and ready for use.
Note: If you continue feeding the ginger bug for more than 5 days, strain it, remove the old ginger, and add fresh ginger to keep it healthy and active.
3. How Do You Make the Soda?
Mix 100ml of strained ginger bug with any fruit juice of your choice (strained or unstrained). Pour into pressure-safe bottles, leaving space for carbonation.
4. How Do You Ferment the Soda?
Keep the bottles at room temperature. Even if the temperature is less than 20°C, make sure to release pressure daily, even a few times per day. If the temperature is above 21°C, leave the bottles slightly open overnight, then seal them in the morning. Release pressure again after 4–5 hours. Once you see bubbling, transfer bottles to the fridge and continue releasing pressure daily.
5. How Do You Safely Open the Bottles?
When opening the bottles, always hold your hand on top and release the pressure slowly to avoid any unexpected situations.
How to Pause the Fermentation Process:
Strain your ginger bug, place it in a jar, seal it, and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to feed and use it again.
