Prime birding time in SW Hokkaido is just around the corner...

I haven’t done much birding the last couple of weeks and when I did get out I couldn’t find much to photograph or video. But...we are just about to hit the peak birding time of the whole year. Late April to late May is hands-down the best period for birding around Hakodate and here I show some birds I’ve filmed the previous 3 years at this season.
Birds in this video include Latham’s Snipe, Japanese Bush Warbler, Brown-headed and Japanese Thrush, Siberian Blue Robin, Russet Sparrow, Varied Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Dollarbird, Masked Bunting, Red-necked Stint, Wood Sandpiper, Eurasian Curlew, Black-winged Stilt, Red-necked Pharalope, Kentish Plover and Narcissus Flycatcher.
I also share some photos of local rarities from years gone by…
Hopefully 2025 will bag me some local rarities too.
