How to Talk to Kids About War | Pediatrician Explains India–Pakistan Conflict & Terrorism

As a pediatrician, I’m deeply aware of how global conflicts and violent news affect the emotional well-being of children. In this video, I speak not only as a doctor, but as an Indian — a citizen who stands firmly with her country during difficult times. The current India–Pakistan tensions are rooted in a long and complex history, but what cannot be ignored is the reality of terrorism that threatens innocent lives and national security.

Children often overhear conversations, see disturbing headlines, or sense anxiety in adults — and they deserve answers that are honest, age-appropriate, and emotionally safe. This video aims to help parents, teachers, and caregivers explain the idea of war — particularly in the context of India and Pakistan — in a way that nurtures emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and a deep respect for truth and peace.

I fully support India’s sovereign right to defend its people and borders, and I believe terrorism must be addressed with clarity and firmness. At the same time, I believe in raising children who value peace, who understand that strength also lies in compassion, and who grow up to be informed, responsible citizens of this nation and the world.
Also, raising aware children doesnt mean teaching them just black and white. It doesnt just mean chanting war and conflict is wrong! It means telling them that there are intricate complexities involved whenever a country reaches this postition.
Let’s teach them what war is. Why it’s happening. Why something that is ethically wrong is not so easily explained! Why India is working so hard to protect us!
Why India has to, at all!
