Not all gear is created equally unfortunately. Poor design is bad for everyone and all it takes is a little more education and forethought when designing your product to make sure that it doesn’t end up costing the customer money due to a small mistake.
Modular synths and guitar pedals are the two main categories with the worst culprits as the barrier to entry is so low, anyone with a half a brain and access to Kicad and some other peoples schematics can start making stuff.
Use the other half of that brain and make better products.
