While Eclipse Forest got redesigned several times during development (there were as many as 3 major iterations prior to this one IIRC), this version is one of the most substantial and developed pieces of cut content that was made for Overclocked. As you might have noticed, this version is almost completely different from the release version, with only a few small layout fragments being salvaged. The gimmick focus is also completely different; instead of focusing on various types of vines, a big element here were enemies, including the sniping Egg Pawns that debuted in the 2019 demo, plus Starpointers and Penguinators, all of which wound up getting scrapped from the final level. Some other elements were experimented with as well, such as floating playing cards to tie into the casino aspect of Mystic Jungle, and breakable ice chunks. The Drill Pipe wispon element was also introduced here, though the way it would be implemented in the final mod is completely different, and it wouldn’t appear much in Eclipse Forest itself.

While this version of the stage was extensively worked on, we wound up cutting it almost entirely, mainly because it just wasn’t coming together into a fun level, even after months of work. It had some cool ideas, but the layout tended to either feel empty and un-involved or cluttered and difficult to navigate. Scrapping the stage was a pretty difficult thing to do at the time due to the amount of work and unique elements that we implemented in it, but the final version generally turned out better than this one at least.
