APPLE DUMPLING RECIPE:
3 apples, peeled and halved
2 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add milk slowly and mix until dough is just holding together.
Divide dough into six equal parts.
Roll out each piece of dough and place an apple half in the center. (you can add sugar and cinnamon to the apple cavity if desired)
Cover the apple halves with the rolled-out dough and tuck the ends underneath each apple half. Place on a greased pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until slightly golden brown.

SAUCE:
1 cup brown sugar (or coconut palm)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Bring this mixture to boiling and thicken with perma flo or cornstarch. (you can use a thickening agent of your choice)
Serve dumplings warm with sauce and ice cream.
