25 miles into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Oregon, undersea ledges push tidal currents upward. Birds and whales from all over the planet gather to feast on the food carried toward the surface. Birders also gather to watch the spectacle of shearwaters, northern fulmars and albatrosses as they swirl around the boat.
