In this episode, we take you to Metung which is a small coastal town on the Gippsland Lakes. We have been trying to find a Topknot Pigeon all year with no luck so hearing they had landed in Metung and were hanging out at in a large fig tree in town was enough for us to pack our bags & drive over 4 hours to see if we could locate them.

We really only had one full day to find the pigeons so we spent a great deal of our time hanging around under the giant fig tree. Nimal was so excited that he didn’t even sleep the night before! And to our surprise and excitement, the Topknot Pigeons were there!! And once we had seen them, it was a case of trying to get a photo! But… the pigeons had other ideas & seemed to be avoiding the paparazzi by spending most of their time hidden way up high in the fig or flying off into neighbouring trees.

As the hours went on, we started to lose the plot! Minds started to wander but we kept on the case! It really was exciting to finally see these very interesting birds!! … or as Nimal described them “a big grey pigeon with a funny hairdo”
