Raising Voices, Lifting Futures: The Power of Youth in Driving Change

The Geneva Challenge 2024 invited students from around the world to devise solutions tackling the challenges of youth empowerment.

To commemorate the Award Ceremony, Malawian children’s rights activist Memory Banda explored the numerous dimensions of youth empowerment on the basis of her personal experiences fighting to end child marriage in Malawi since the age of 13.

Following the keynote address by Memory Banda, the Jury of the Geneva Challenge announced the winners of this year’s edition and award the five finalist teams, one per continent, for their innovative and pragmatic solutions.

The Geneva Challenge is an international competition launched by the Geneva Graduate Institute in 2014, thanks to the vision and generosity of Ambassador Jenö Staehelin and the patronage of the late Kofi Annan. This contest brings together graduate students from diverse disciplinary and contextual perspectives to provide innovative and pragmatic solutions to some of the world’s complex challenges.
